Greetings to All Children and Young People of the World Pan-Asia Regional Assistance Project
Let us create a global network of children and youth using this web site and mibile phones PARAP is now ready to launch the final test site (#3) as of the end of October with an aim to complete the test sometime during November, 2007. The primary objective is to bring the children and youth living in the remote rural communities together with their counterparts living in the world's urban centers, working hand in hand with the internationally active NGOs. Those who access the PARAP site will be able to view fresh video reports NGO VIDEO REPORTS at left sent in by the field NGOs activists helping the rural communities, reporting on their community assistance efforts, with emphasis on East, South and West Asias. At this point in time, we have sample video clips with explanations both in Japanese and English. Starting during November, there will be an increasing delivery of freshly prepared video reports from these countries, and you can communicate with PARAP, and through us the field NGO offices if you like, asking questions and expressing your opinions and proposals Kids in a remote Himala foothill village
The PARAP site will thus play the role of a virtual network of collaboration among the children and youth around the world. For multidirectional exchange of messages, we have PARAP OPEN FORUM also at lower left which is accessible by anyone interested. As the pervasive tide of globalization washes the shores of all Continents and penetrates into the remote inland regions, there is an alarming advance of social gaps both in income and access to information not only between the rich and the poor in the industrialized nations, but also among and within the developing nations, let alone the less fortunate countries. At PARAP, therefore, we have focused on the great potential of the Internet-led global communication networks, especially made possible by the rapid spread of mobile communication terminals, especially the billions of mobile phones. The fact that they are making a rapid spread in the major Asian countries like Russian Far East, China and India, promises the advent of ubiquitous international exchange network of the 21st century among all nations. Especially, as depicted in this picture, the image of disadvantaged native Asians must be changed. They are not an endangered spices. They are human beings like all of us and have hopes, aspirations and ability to do things in their own ways. We must work together to preserve the diverse human heritages.
METHOD TO BE USED: (1) PARAP site will provide answers to the frequently asked questions such as: What is the actual living conditions for children and youth in the remote rural communities of these countries? What do they need to make life easier and get more things done to catch up with the outside world? Indeed, there are schools without glass windows, where they have no black board, while many must walk around barefoot. Lack of class room supplies like note books and pencils, etc., etc. We can all work together to build small assistance projects and put price tags on them with the help of field NGO offices. PARAP in turn will be able to digitally receive and hold small donations from the viewers of the world, and as each project account reaches the targeted budget, PARAP will transmit it to each of the NGO's field offices with full transparency.
(2) PARAP will work with NGO and make sure the donated fund will be put effectively to the specific use to help the young people, and will follow through the project implementation until the job will have been accomplished. Thereupon, NGO will make video clips of the project's progress and the final accomplishment, upon which time such video clips with messages will be sent back to PARAP and the donors. They will be posted at the PARAP site for all to see, at first in English and Japanese, and later other languages like Chinese and Russian. (3) Finally, when this process comes to a successful end for each project, we at PARAP would like to ask the donors to send your project video report to your friends in each country and around the world so others will know what has become possible to help bridge the widening wealth and communication gaps and build a global ring of mutual understanding and collaboration on the individual level and/or as small private groups. No bureaucracy and no government control. This is our concept at PARAP of a true NGO endeavor.
If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at the temporary e-mail address below. We will do our best to provide additional information. Yutaka Okamoto Director OKAMOTO INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS RESEARCH INSTITUTE Tokyo, Japan
